Of course, given the option, most of our canine patients would likely insist that every day should be Spoil Your Dog Day, and they wouldn’t be wrong. Dogs do deserve to feel loved and pampered every day. However, this is a great chance to do something special for your pooch, and score yourself some extra tail wags. A Jacksonville, FL veterinarian offers some suggestion on how to celebrate in this article.

A yummy snack is definitely in order. Store-bought goodies are fine, but your furry pal can also enjoy something homemade. Look online for recipes. Fido can also have some plain, cooked meat, fish, or chicken, without the skin, bones, or fat.

Fido is always adorable, but he’s never cuter than when he spots a new toy and gets excited. Indulge your canine buddy, and get him a new plaything.

Does your canine companion love going on excursions? Treat Fido with a trip to a local dog park. Or, try a new trail with him. You can also bring him to a drive-through for a yummy snack.

Speaking of water, why not get your four-legged friend a kiddie pool to splash around in? Many dogs love these! You can also let him splash in the spray from a hose. (Note: if you use reclaimed water on your yard, get a filter for your hose.)

Is your furry buddy’s bed squashed? If so, get him a new one! In fact, it’s not a bad idea to get him a bed even if he already has a good one. That way, he can have comfy spots in a few different rooms. It’s nice to have options!
