There’s a pretty cute pet holiday around the corner. March 3rd is If Pets Had Thumbs Day! Opposable thumbs are often credited as one of the main factors that helped humans evolve to our current state. But what about Fido and Fluffy? What do you think your pet would do if they suddenly grew opposable thumbs? A Jacksonville, FL vet offers some suggestions in this article.
Dogs and cats may not agree on everything, but they both do love treats. Your pets wouldn’t hesitate to raid your fridge and cupboard. Fluffy would probably also remove the labels from your canned goods, because, well, that’s just something kitties with thumbs would do.
We know, imagining pets using computers is a bit of a stretch. But then again, so is the thought of pets growing thumbs in the first place. Your canine companion would fill your computer up with pictures of cute pooches and designer doghouses. Fluffy would probably delete all your files and download an aquarium screensaver or a kitty game.
Speaking of games, if you have a gaming console, your four-legged friend may decide to try it out.
Grand Theft Auto may be Fido’s favorite game. Fluffy, on the other hand, may be more interested in classic games, like Pac Man, Frogger, or Duck Hunt.
If Fido and Fluffy grew thumbs, it probably wouldn’t take them long to realize that they can open doors. Your pooch would immediately head off for some doggy adventures! Fluffy would probably also take off, but she may not wander quite as far. However, she would likely be more than happy to lock her canine roommate out of the house.
If your furry pals were able to figure out how to order things online, you’d probably find yourself with a bit of a headache when their packages started arriving. We suspect that Fido would order lots of toys, bacon, and steaks, while Fluffy would opt for comfy beds, kitty furniture, and live fish.
Dogs love exploring, so Fido would drive himself to his favorite beach or park, with a few stops at local drive-thrus. Fluffy would probably just toss your keys into the Gulf.
