Love Your Pet Day

There’s a pretty cute pet holiday coming up. February 20th is Love Your Pet Day! While pets should of course be loved every day, there’s no reason you can’t pamper your furry pal a bit, and score some extra purrs or tail wags. Read on as a local Jacksonville, FL vet suggests some cute ways to celebrate.

Adventures

This one mostly applies to dogs. (We recommend keeping kitties indoors, though some of them do enjoy being walked on leashes.) Man’s Best Friend loves adventure! Fido would likely be thrilled with a trip to a local beach or park. You may even be able to take him to a dog-friendly deli for a yummy treat.

Treats

It’s probably not much of a surprise to find treats at the top of this list. Store-bought ones are fine, but you can also make your own. Just stick with ingredients you know are safe. Or, you can give your dog or cat some plain, cooked meat, fish, or poultry, without the skin, bones, or fat.

New Digs

Has it been a while since your dog or cat got a new bed? This is also a wonderful gift. It’s important for your beloved pet to be able to sleep comfortably at night. It doesn’t really matter if Fluffy or Fido already has a good bed. Or two. Or three. It’s always good to have options!

Toys

A new toy is a quick and easy way for you to brighten up your four-legged buddy’s day. Classic options, like tennis balls or catnip mice, are always fine. However, you can also experiment with newer gadgets, like automated laser pointers or remote-controlled mice.

Photos

You certainly don’t need an excuse to take pet photos. However, this special day is perfect for snapping a cute pic of your furry best friend!

Quality Time

If your dog or cat could decide what they wanted to do, there’s a pretty good chance that their number one choice would be to just spend time with you. Fluffy and Fido both form very strong emotional bonds with their humans. Pay some extra attention to your furry buddy, and don’t skimp on those ear scritches, either. Quality time spent with pets is never wasted!
