Resolutions for Lazy Cats

Happy New Year! Are you making resolutions this year? If so, your cat will be right there at your feet—or perhaps on your lap—as you strive to make your goals. Of course, some furballs will spend most of the next twelve months sleeping. Some of our feline friends are quite lazy! Here, a Jacksonville, FL vet lists a few things that uninspired kitties may put on their to-do lists.

Sunbathe

Our feline pals don’t actually run on solar power, but they may not have realized that yet. Your furry little buddy will spend a chunk of 2021 sprawled out in her favorite sunbeam, soaking up some sun.

Pounce. Every Now And Then

Cats are very playful when they are young, but they do slow down as they get older. Eventually, Fluffy may taper down to a few halfhearted pounces a year. Try to pique your kitty’s interest by playing with her regularly.

Supervise The Human

Cats like to keep a close eye on their humans. Fluffy will spend a good chunk of the year just watching you, likely with that super cute kitty expression on her face.

Try New Napping Habits

Did you know that cats can sleep up to 20 hours a day? (We’re a bit skeptical as to whether Fluffy actually needs that much rest, but that’s another topic.) Your sleepy pet will diligently move from spot to spot for her 49 daily naps. She’ll also experiment with different positions.

Box Hop

Kitties just can’t seem to resist jumping into boxes. It doesn’t even matter if it’s a big box, small box, or even just a square of tape on the floor. Fluffy will promptly settle herself in, and look at you with that adorable happy expression cats get sometimes.

Improve Flexibility

It’s always cute seeing a kitty stretch as she’s getting up from a nap. Fluffy may try to work on her flexibility a bit this year!

Cuddle

There are many reasons to love cats. However, one of our favorite things about Fluffy is the fact that she is so affectionate. Your feline buddy may curl up in your lap at night, or just snuggle up with you in bed. Purring kitties can make any day better!
